Interesting use* of lenticular lenses (*aka not a complete gimmick)
Link: Interesting use* of lenticular lenses (*aka not a complete gimmick)
First up - this blog was once reserved solely for my work or intellectual property–but I’ve decided to now broaden my horizons (starting with this post, I suppose)
Anywho - I suppose I’ve summed up my feelings on the above video quite successfully in the title. I’ve always been fascinated by lenticular lenses and their potential in artwork; I feel they are a great example of contemporary Trompe-l’œil. 99% of the time however, lenticular lenses are used in art as a technological or optical gimmick, and it is the technology itself that is appreciated, and not its application.
In the above video, the application of lenticular lenses allows it’s function to override its form–aka, the seriousness of the message is not hampered by the gimmick of the lenses. I would however, expect this to be argued.
